The Pitch, which is Kansas City's independent source for culture and news puts on this fantastic competition as a way to highlight all of the amazing people, businesses, and places that Kansas City has to offer! We love our hometown and are always up for any way to highlight it!
As a way to celebrate our fellow nominees and all that we love about Kansas City, we thought that we would share a few of our staff favorites from the 2019 winners!
Best Local Event: First Friday's
If you have not attended, this is a must! It is is an amazing event that takes place on, you guessed it, the 'First Friday' of each month. Held in the Crossroad Arts district, it highlights local artists and makers alike!
Best Coffee House: Messenger Coffee
Messenger has arguably one of the best rooftops in the city with plenty of open air seating and a cozy fire place for cool mornings. Their house-made chai latte is absolutely divine!
Best Place for a Celebratory Toast: CaVa
Don't forget to order one of the amazing charcuterie boards, as well!
Best Park: Jacob L. Loose Park
My favorite time of the year to go is in the spring when the trees are in full bloom! The rose gardens are definitely worth a visit too.

Best Ice Cream: Betty Rae's
They have the most unique flavor combinations and no trip is complete without getting a waffle cone, too!
Best Donuts: Lamar's
Although, at JTH, we love ALL donuts! You can often find them in the shop fueling our team on a Friday morning.
Best Men's Clothing Store: Ulah
They have a beautifully designed and curated collection! This is the perfect stop when you need a gift for someone special in your life.
