At J Thomas Home, each thick floating wood shelf we produce is made to order and handcrafted from one of six wood species of your choosing. Each type of wood possesses its own unique characteristics to help you achieve your favorite home decor style.
The grain and look of different wood species means no two custom floating shelves are identical. This is why we love working with a natural product! With any real wood, you can expect natural imperfections like knots, knot holes, and grain textures. But not every wood species is prone to these beauty marks. For example, if you like the idea of these lovely blemishes, you might opt for Alder or Pine. But if your goal is a perfectly smooth, creamy look, you might choose Maple or Walnut.
